Agricultural Seminars in Gilgo

In March 2007, Pwof Ansanm began working with Zamor, a Haitian agricultural trainer, to host a series of seminars in Gilgo, a town Northwest of Les Cayes.  He alternates seminars between agriculture, animal husbandry, nutrition, and the environment.  Zamor has taught monthly seminars, each two to three days long.  He works with the Peasant Organization for the Development of Gilgo (OPPDG).

Secondary Teacher Training Seminars

For four weeks in the summers of 2005 and 2006, Pwof Ansanm conducted training seminars for secondary teachers of Jérémie. The training focused on student-centered approaches to education, with an emphasis on participatory methods, curriculum development, civic responsibility, and children’s rights.  In 2008 we are planning a similar program with the teachers of Wanament (North east).  The seminar will be given in March (one week) and in July/August (3 weeks).  The attached brochure (below) provides a summary of the program.

Certification Program in Pedagogy for Secondary Teachers

For outstanding participants who have successfully completed the Teacher Training Seminars, a three year program in pedagogical techniques will be offered. The program will take a more in-depth look at modern practices in pedagogy and on developing relevant curriculum materials.
